City of Sandomierz

Sandomierz is one of oldest and historically most important cities in Poland. It is located by the Vistula River on seven hills, and therefore it is sometimes called ‘little Rome’. In the medieval Poland, Sandomierz, alongside Krakow and Wroclaw, was classified by the chronicler Gaul the Anonymous as one of the main castles in the state.

In Sandomierz there are more than 120 historical buildings and monuments. The most important are: medieval urban structure of the city and Church of St. Jacob - one of the oldest brick churches in Poland.
